FMS M-Tier Technology
A patented architecture for enterprise mobility
The foundation of @hand software is the @hand M-Tier® Platform. M-Tier is a patented
software architecture that provides the infrastructure necessary to support mission-critical
mobile computing. Within an @hand solution environment, M-Tier manages the following:
- Data distribution and transaction integrity verification
- Application deployment and versioning
- Mobile communications and error recovery
- Security; encryption and access control
- Integration services
Leveraging mobile technology standards and an open architecture, M-Tier is designed to
work within customers’ existing IT environments and to provide mobile solutions that are
always-available, easily-managed, and secure.
M-Tier Components:
@hand M-Tier Server
The central component of the @hand M-Tier Platform is the M-Tier Server. As a
specially-designed mobile application server, it provides an intelligent processing layer
between enterprise systems and @hand applications. Features include mobile transaction
processing, data distribution, application deployment, and version management. A
store-and-forward design promotes availability, scalability, and the flexibility to
integrate non-intrusively with existing enterprise systems.
@hand M-Tier Clients
@hand Clients are deployed to each mobile device used for an @hand application. As an
embedded companion to the solution client (application), the M-Tier Client manages software
installation, user authentication, network communication, transaction integrity, and local
data processing. M-Tier Clients are available for a broad range of devices, including
handhelds, tablets, and laptops.
@hand M-Tier Administrator
@hand provides a graphical administrative console for managing solution components, such
as applications, devices, user settings, and deployments. The Administrator also provides
features for reporting message logs and monitoring system events.
