AUSTIN, TX - September 16, 2008 - NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has awarded a
contract for @hand's Mobile CMMS solution to support JPL's facilities maintenance
and operations section. JPL plans to combine @hand software with rugged handheld
devices to improve asset maintenance tracking and reduce the cost of maintenance.
JPL is one of the world's premier research centers and is NASA's lead organization
for robotic exploration of the solar system. The Laboratory has a wide-ranging
charter for solar system exploration, Earth observation, astrophysical research,
and technology development.
JPL is one of several NASA facilities that have awarded contracts for @hand software
to support maintenance and operations. "@hand is excited to add JPL to our portfolio
of NASA customers," said John Cannington, @hand's Chief Executive Officer. "JPL's
decision to implement @hand's Mobile CMMS solution further reinforces our position as
the market leader in mobility for thought-leading customers in complex environments."
The @hand Mobile CMMS solution provides application modules for mobile work order
processing, QA inspections, facilities condition assessment, and supply management.
Like all @hand solutions, Mobile CMMS is supported by @hand's patented M-Tier®
technology. M-Tier ensures that mobile users receive the applications and data
necessary to perform job functions, and that applications function seamlessly in
online and offline scenarios.
JPL expects benefits from the solution to include improvements in data collection
accuracy and reductions in operational costs. @hand offers JPL the opportunity to
track and optimize maintenance activities from creation and planning through execution
to final approval.
